I Remember

This post is a bit outside the usual theme of the blog; however, I wrote a poem for my late husband Cole that I wanted to see the light of day in one way or another.

Shard of glass, fragile and breakable

Loosed from a twisted frame

Understated, barely modern

Notorious in claim

Once blighted street

Sparkling dust and broken dreams

I remember the way you smiled at me

Sloppy with drink

Pale ice or slate of sea

The unexpected swings

A shadow of greatness, the edge of failure

Unsaid and unbent, time bleeds
